I am a qualified, experienced therapist, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I can offer you a respectful, empathetic, theoretically informed ‘space’, where, together, we can explore aspects of your life that are challenging. I am passionate about my work. It is both a privilege and a pleasure to work with my clients.
In my work I am bound by the BACP ethical code of conduct.
My training is “integrative”, which means I am trained in a number of different therapeutic models. When working with you I will use elements from those models that I feel best suit your needs. Models I use in my work include person centred, relational, existential, psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and I-CBT (for working with clients with OCD) . I chose to train as an integrative therapist, believing that there is no one model of therapy that suits all clients or all needs. Integration gives me the ability, and flexibility, to customise my approach to best suit each client.
I work with adults, 16 years and above, and with a wide range of presenting problems. These include, but are not limited to; anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, survivors of abuse, trauma victims, bereavement, relationship difficulties, and the impact of major illness (eg cancer).
As well as working in private practice I work as a volunteer counsellor at a low cost agency as I believe therapy should be available to all who seek it. In my previous working life I have worked in research and management roles, as well as been a volunteer and trustee at various charities.
